Large, modern, purpose built accommodation One of the classrooms Sulmona with the backdrop of the Maiella Mountains, | The Venue: 'Locando Dell'Asino D'Oro' Accommodation: The accommodation is a modern purpose built building with large comfortable rooms, each with their own private ensuites. Beautiful views across the valley to the magnificent mountains beyond, with medieval villages dotted around. All rooms have air conditioning. The Restaurant: The restaurant is a very Italian family type restaurant, which has been operating for many years and is very popular with the locals, as they have themed evenings. It is managed by Gloria's sister Sandra. The chef's name is Pino, and a real character to plus being an amazing chef. This is where you will have your wonderful alfresco lunches each day. One evening during your stay you will get the opportunity to cook your very own Italian meal!
Our Classroom/Studios: The classroom/studio is made up of two large rooms opening onto a large sunny outdoor covered patio, where you will also be able to work. There is a small kitchen, which will be suitable for dyeing fabric, or whatever. On the patio is a wood fired oven for making bread and pizza's. The is another large classroom upstairs in the main building. With computers, printers, projectors and all necessary sewing equipment etc., for our classes. Have a relaxing Massage: There is a lovely room where you are able to book a massage and try the wonderful beauty products that have been made from the milk of the asino. Apparently, the milk has amazing properties. The Outlook: Apart from the awesome views out toward the magnificent mountains of this region, the property itself has amazing ambience. From the classroom, leading down the path, is a very pictuesque pond. It is all very relaxing and quiet, punctuated occasionally by the sounds of the asino talking to each other. These congenial surroundings are most favourable to making art. The Location: The property which is called 'Locanda dell'Asino d'oro' is situated approx 6 mins from the ancient city of Sulmona and a couple of mins from our house in Introdacqua, the medieval village where we live. Sulmona is approx 2 hours east of Rome and is very easy to get to from Fumicino airport. Full instructions on how to get here will be given to you when you book.
