| Art Quilt Italy! With Rayna Gillman Arrival: 1st August to Departure 8th August 2012 Deadline for registration is 23rd May 2012. ************** A word from Rayna I have adapted this class especially for the Abruzzo. You will go home with an original art quilt! Words, photos, color, and line will spark your creativity and inspire fresh work based on your adventure in Italy! Working spontaneously, asking "what if"? you will capture the essence of the landscape, an element that catches your eye, the color around you, or any aspect of your Italian experience. Day 1: Armed with cameras, we'll walk in the city or countryside, taking photos for inspiration. Then, working quickly and spontaneously using line, color, and free-form design, you will experiment with a number of small abstract studies based on your visual experience. Day 2: Studio time, sewing, group sharing & discussion, show-and-tell, optional critique if you are stuck, and time to explore and play. You may choose to expand a small study to a larger piece, continue working in a series, or try out a new idea you didn't have time for on day one. Days 3-5: Independent and guided studio where you will continue what you started or start something new and experiment with “what if?” Individual and group feedback, brainstorming, and” what if?” problem-solving. Discussions, as needed, on developing a series, and variations of color, value, and design. You will go home with work based on your Abruzzo experience, substantially in process or finished, and enhanced ability to do self-critique.
