Join Liz as she leads you through a travelogue of an art journey created by your hands.

Imagine a book which gently calls you to open its soft, textured cover, to explore the memories found within the pages; scents, textures and images of a beautiful place, an experience.

In this workshop we will explore the essence of place; our experience, our reactions, our sense of being part of a special place…be it home or abroad. Our explorations will carry us through the beautiful Abruzzo countryside and neighboring towns gathering images, scents, sounds, ephemera and treasures which will become our story to be recorded in a mixed media journal made of textiles and paper. 

We will explore a variety of traditional and mixed media techniques including:

• Gelatin mono-printing on textiles and paper
• Easy photo transfer techniques for both textiles and paper
• Learn simple sketching techniques
• Composition and design basics for collage and   photography
• Free machine stitch sketching and thread painting  creating textile based books (free standing   accordian and traditional book format)
• Embellishing with beads, stitch, local ephemera and treasures,

This class is open to all levels of textile, paper and mixed-media artists. Basic understanding of sewing machine operation is required but extensive stitch experience is not necessary.
