Abstracting the Italian Landscape With Liz Berg Arrival Date: 3rd Oct to Departure 10 Oct 2012 Deadline for Registration is: 25th July 2012 **************** All student levels On our first day, we will explore the area and take numerous digital photographs of areas and scenes that intrigue us. Upon returning to the studio, we will print out our images and begin looking at them for consideration for making our first quilt. During this time we will look at what makes a successful composition and what abstracting means to us. During the following days we will make small landscape quilts (or larger if you wish) from our photos. We will utitilize fusing and cutting fabric without patterns in order to be more free in our designs. Emphasis will be on shapes, colors, and lines to express your version of the landscape. On market day we wil go to the market, again armed with cameras in hand. After taking many more photos we will return to the studio to again look suitable images to turn into our art. Students are encouraged to work small, from 11x14 inches to 16x20 inches. Students should be able to complete several quilts of this size during the class period and will return home with numerous ideas for continuing to create more Italian landscapes. What a perfect memory of a wonderful, art-filled time! Quilts will be machine quilted. You can email Liz, if you have any questions:
