Meeting the Family at Locanda dell'Asino d'oro

December 11, 2011
Last night I went to Locanda dell'Asino d'oro for dinner. Locanda dell'Asino d'oro is the  venue for Abruzzo School of Creative Art. I met Gloria's husband, Eugenio and son, Daniele. It was a very good meeting as Daniele speaks very good English. So I was able to outline the programme we had in store for the participants of the classes. About Abruzzo School of Creative Art

Averil Stuart-Head What is Abruzzo School of Creative Art all about? We are predominently a textile, fibre, quilt, art school, plus other mediums like mixed media and altered books, etc. The aim of the school, is to not only share this beautiful region of Italy with students and tutors, but for you to participate in the unique Abruzzi culture. Abruzzo is different from all other regions of Italy. For centuries, due to it's rugged terrain and dramatic mountain ranges, it has experienced relative isolation from the rest of the Italy and the world. While the autostrada and rail has opened up the area, it has been slow to change. Sulmona, was once a walled city, as was Introdacqua village. There are many examples of the of the ancient arched entrance ways still in use around Sulmona today. This is what makes hilltop, walled, medieval villages and ancient cities, like Sulmona so interesting and fasinating. Most of the very old traditions are still in place today. The learning holiday we are offering is a real opportunity for you to experience hands on and to literally intergrate all your senses, sights, smells, tastes, and listen to the sounds of Italy. Our ultimate goal is to give you a............. Genuine Italian Experience.... and An Adventure of a Lifetime
